Contaminated Sites Information System (CSIS) which is developed for identification of contaminated sites, will be updated under Identification and Remediation of Contaminated Sites with Persistent Organic Pollutants Project and the sites will be classified accordingly.

An online training was held on 31 March 2021 in accordance with Covid 19 measures to update CSIS software and explain the current system. A total of 109 participants from central and Provincial Directorates of Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation attended the training. Mrs. Gülhan Saygılı, Head of Soil Pollution Control Unit from Water and Soil Management Department gave the opening speech of the training which is organized for strengthening technical and institutional capacity regarding management of the software.

Training was started with the Project’s Technical Consultant, Mr. Yahya Akdağ’s explanations on the screens related to following up on the activity preliminary information and inspection forms with evaluation reports of the Provincial Directorates through the system. In the afternoon session, the guiding steps on the inspection, inquiry and reporting of the activity preliminary information forms of the Ministry and orphan sites were presented and challenges faced during the implementation were discussed. After this session, information was provided on the screens and topics related to processes for cleaning and remediation of contaminated sites, which are still under development.

Contaminated Sites Information System Training ended with the evaluation of the training and feedbacks received form the participants.
