Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Meetings on Disposal of POPs Pesticides in Merkim Storage; 7-8 November 2017, Kocaeli
In the scope of the 1st Component of POPs Legacy Elimination and POPs Release Reduction Project, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Report of environmentally sound repackaging, transport, disposal of POPs pesticides and demolition of storages in Merkim site was prepared and published for the possible comments from relevant stakeholders at www.csb.gov.tr under announcement tabs. According to that, a series informative meetings were held on 7th-8th of November 2017 with the Department of Environmental Protection of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, Kocaeli Environmental and Urbanization Provincial Directorate, Kocaeli Food, Agriculture and Livestock Provincial Directorate, Derince Municipality representatives and representatives of private sector neighborhood of Merkim site as well.
Within the scope of the meeting, the representatives of the participating stakeholders were informed about the application to be made on the scene and details of the drawbacks were provided. Upon the request from the participants; It has been decided that updated information about Merkim site works will be regularly provided to the stakeholders.
